In this workshop, based on Gordon Neufeld’s developmental work, we’ll explore what it really means to be your child’s emotional shield: the adult who holds the weight of the world so the child doesn’t have to.
You’ll learn how wounding environments often lead children to cut off vulnerable feelings (sadness, fear, disappointment) and shift into more defended states like anger, numbness, perfectionism, or “I don’t care.”
We’ll talk about why school needs to end in the afternoon—not only academically, but emotionally—so home becomes the place where feelings can finally be felt, processed, and restored in the safety of attachment. You’ll leave with practical ways to reduce overwhelm, guide your child back to tenderness, and create rhythms that protect innocence without isolating them from life.
